WHAT HAPPENS ONCE THE JUNE SUGAR DETOX STARTS?

This 7-day sugar detox is designed to help you reset your relationship with sugar, build better eating habits, and experience more consistent energy, mood, and focus. Each daily step is backed by research and created to be actionable, achievable, and impactful.

Starting June 1, 2025, each participant will commit to the following Daily Detox Actions:

Day 1: Set Your Why and Prepare Your Kitchen

  • Define your personal goal for this detox—whether it's improving energy, reducing cravings, or supporting mental clarity.

  • Remove high-sugar items from your kitchen, including snacks, drinks, sauces, and cereals.

Day 2: Track Your Sugar Intake

  • Use a food-tracking tool (such as Cronometer) to log everything you eat for the day.

  • Review your added sugar intake and compare it to recommended limits (≤25g/day for women, ≤36g/day for men, per the AHA).

Day 3: Eliminate Sugary Beverages

  • Replace soda, juice, sweetened teas, and flavored coffees with unsweetened options like herbal tea, citrus-infused water, or sparkling water.

Day 4: Build Balanced Meals

  • Focus on meals that pair protein and healthy fats with complex carbs to reduce sugar cravings and keep blood sugar stable.

  • Example swaps: trail mix instead of cookies, apple with almond butter instead of granola bars.

Day 5: Read Labels and Make Smart Swaps

  • Identify added sugars in at least three packaged items. Look for ingredients like syrups, cane sugar, and words ending in "-ose."

  • Choose lower-sugar or unsweetened alternatives wherever possible.

Day 6: Replace High-Sugar Desserts

  • Swap traditional desserts for nutrient-dense options like berries with plain Greek yogurt, chia pudding, or dark chocolate (minimum 70% cocoa).

  • Focus on satisfying textures and flavors that don’t rely on added sugar.

Day 7: Reflect and Plan Forward

  • Reflect on how your body and mindset have changed over the week.

  • Decide what habits you'll continue beyond the challenge and set a plan for ongoing sugar awareness.

  • Share your experience in the Habitual Growth community to inspire others.
